ONPHA’s online and in-person courses offer in-depth learning opportunities designed to prepare staff and board members to meet changing and complex demands in governing and managing high-quality, sustainable, tenant-focused housing. Complete courses online at your own pace, attend one of our pre-scheduled courses, or work with us to develop and deliver a tailored course to meet your specific needs.

ONPHA’s online courses allow you to participate in professional training at a time and place that works for you.


Courses starting in January, April and September

The courses below are offered year-round, with start dates in January, April and September. Each can be completed at your own pace over a three-month period from any internet-enabled computer, smartphone or tablet.

Learn how to administer rent-geared-to-income (RGI) under the Housing Services Act. Earn a certificate in RGI administration upon successfully passing the course.

Know your obligations: The Residential Tenancies Act (RTA)
Learn how to save time, save money and avoid costly mistakes in this comprehensive course for non-profit housing providers on their rights and obligations under the Residential Tenancies Act.

Governance essentials: Leading within a changing sector
Learn the essentials of transformational governance for non-profit housing providers, to help build focused, sustainable and responsive organizations.

Finance fundamentals: Playing your part in sustainability and success
Learn the fundamentals of financial oversight and management, so that you can support your organization's financial success in any role.

Ready, Set, (Re)Build
Gain the confidence to dive into the world of non-profit housing development and redevelopment with a solid understanding of all stages of the development process.
This course is currently only available to ONPHA Housing Provider Members.

Courses with flexible start dates

Finding your way: Living safely in the community (Available in English or French)
Learn how to support people with dementia to live safely within their communities. This one-hour course is offered in partnership with the Alzheimer Society of Ontario, and can be completed in English or French at no cost.

ONPHA’s team can work with you to develop and deliver tailored learning opportunities to meet your specific needs and contexts.

Build capacity in key areas like housing legislation, governance, finance, strategic planning and operations. Courses can be delivered in half-day or full-day formats depending on your needs.
