Forward thinking - the new, simplified RGI rules

The new rent-geared-to-income (RGI) rules, aimed at simplifying RGI administration, came into effect on July 1, 2020. Service managers had the option to delay implementation of the new rules (other than the new guidelines for minimum rent) until July 1, 2021.

Join us for an in-depth workshop to learn about RGI simplification and the changes to the Housing Services Act, 2011, and its regulations. Led by an experienced RGI professional, we’ll delve into the legislation, applying the new rules, and how the changes will affect tenants and your own administrative processes.

Gain an understanding of:

  • how RGI administration is changing, and how it will stay the same
  • when to seek clarification from your service manager
  • the new RGI calculation
  • how to implement the changes (including the new minimum rent rules) when performing annual RGI reviews, and more!

This workshop is recommended for housing provider staff responsible for RGI administration and service manager staff working on policies and procedures concerning the implementation of the new RGI rules.


Meet the speaker :

 

Roberta Jagoe | Policy Analyst | Region of Durham Housing Services Division
 Roberta has been Policy Analyst with the Region of Durham’s Housing Services Division since January 2002. She is responsible for the development of local housing policies and procedures related to the housing programs governed under the Housing Services Act, 2011. Prior to her current position, Roberta worked for four years as a policy analyst with the Ministry of Community and Social Services’ Business Transformation Project, and as an Ontario Works caseworker for eight years with the Region of Durham. She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to any discussion on rent-geared-to-income (RGI) administration.
