ONPHA’s online and in-person courses offer in-depth learning opportunities designed to prepare staff and board members to meet changing and complex demands in governing and managing high-quality, sustainable, tenant-focused housing. Complete courses online at your own pace, attend one of our pre-scheduled courses, or work with us to develop and deliver a tailored course to meet your specific needs.

Changes coming:

Starting July 1, 2019, pricing for courses will be based on your membership type under ONPHA’s new membership fee model. Upgraded members will receive 25% off the price of training and customized courses. All other member types will be priced accordingly.

Online courses

ONPHA’s online courses allow you to participate in professional training at a time and place that works for you.

Courses starting this Fall

The courses below are offered year-round, with start dates in January, April and September. Each can be completed at your own pace over a three-month period from any internet-enabled computer, smartphone or tablet.

Learn how to administer rent-geared-to-income (RGI) under the Housing Services Act. Earn a certificate in RGI administration upon successfully passing the course.

Finance fundamentals: Playing your part in sustainability and success
Learn the fundamentals of financial oversight and management, so that you can support your organization's financial success in any role.

Supportive Housing Core Competencies: Enhancing Your Skills
Our newest online course is offered in partnership with the Toronto Mental Health & Addictions Supportive Housing Network with the aim to help supportive housing workers develop a common understanding and knowledge-base of current and proven practices.

The New Simplified World of RGI

The new, simplified rules will make RGI administration and calculations easier for community housing providers and tenants to predict and understand.

Courses with flexible start dates

Finding your way: Living safely in the community (Available in English or French)
Learn how to support people with dementia to live safely within their communities. This one-hour course is offered in partnership with the Alzheimer Society of Ontario, and can be completed in English or French at no cost.
