About this award
The ONPHA Young Changemaker Award recognizes young professionals who have demonstrated a commitment to creating positive change in the community housing sector in Ontario.
This award recognizes an individual (rather than an organization).
Eligibility criteria
The individual must meet the following criteria:
- Be an ONPHA Housing Provider Member.
- Be a young professional (age 35 and under).
- Has made a significant contribution to their organization, community or region.
- Has demonstrated leadership, innovation, and/or community engagement in their work.
- Has demonstrated a continued commitment to non-profit housing and created a lasting legacy benefiting tenants and the community.

Krystal Valencia
In less than a decade, Krystal has redefined what’s possible for affordable housing in Ontario. As founder and CEO of Rental Rescue, she has led efforts to preserve and expand affordable housing, ensuring that homes remain accessible to those who need them most. A recognized UN delegate and Canada’s 2022 Young Impact Leader, Krystal embodies the vision and passion that can drive community housing forward.
